Bulgaria occupies one of the top leading places in the EU in number of deaths in traffic accidents. Bulgaria is close to 150 road accident fatalities per million inhabitants. This is data, according to the report by the European Commission For Road Safety. The report was published on 22 June, 2009 in Brussels. According to the statistics, in 2008 there ware 227 dead and about 2253 injured pedestrians. Foundation "Pedestrians" is a NGO, with an aim to take concrete actions to reduce the accident fatalities for the Bulgarian pedestrians.
